Light is spiritual, electromagnetic, and physical. From the archive, I received a suitcase of unused GE one-use flashbulbs and a roll of developed black and white film through which I explored the attributes of light, producing material based interpretations of illumination.

Nathan Miller is an artist and documentary photographer based in Chicago. His work in photography, sound, and public installation puts forward a multifaceted conversation on the human condition as revealed in social conditions, black culture, and Christian spirituality. He has exhibited in Chicago, New York City, London, and Rhode Island, including at the Chicago Art Department (IL), Clamp Art (NY), RISD Museum (RI), Washington Park Arts Incubator (IL), and EXPO Chicago (IL). His most recent public installation is a 200’ photo mural for the community of Altgeld Gardens completed in the summer of 2023. He is a lecturer at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago (IL) and a current fellow of Columbia University (NY) Incite Fellowship.
