April 3rd 6pm
discussion
MoCP Executive Director Natasha Egan and Chief Curator and Deputy Director Karen Irvine with artists and SAIC educators Matt Siber and Jan Tichy
The panel will explore the legacy of Rod Slemmons—his impact on photography and photography education. Leading the discussion, Natasha Egan, a former student of Slemmons and instrumental in his relocation to Chicago, will guide the panelists in reflecting on their experiences with him as a curator, educator, and collector.
In connection with the exhibition, the conversation will also explore the New Automat, Slemmons’ final written piece on photography, considering its themes and impact on contemporary photographic practice.
